“God’s people should be baptized because God commanded it, not because some church requires it.” ~ Rick R. Rice
Our Lord gave two commandments in the gospels one of them is in (Matthew 28:19-20) So wherever you go, make disciples of all nations: Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to do everything I have commanded you. "And remember that I am always with you until the end of time."
This instituted believer’s or Christians baptisms. The disciples and those who followed them in preaching the Gospel were commanded to teach or disciple people of all nation and to baptize them.
This authority and command to baptize is given to his disciples and afterward to the church.
One note to clarify, baptism dose not save or necessary for salvation, our Lord says plainly that works, rituals, and ceremonies do not save. (Ephesians 2:8-9) God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. It's not the result of anything you've done, so no one can brag about it.
But it does say, it is asking God for a clean conscience, (1 Peter 3:21) Baptism, which is like that water, now saves you. Baptism doesn't save by removing dirt from the body. Rather, baptism is a request to God for a clear conscience. It saves you through Jesus Christ, who came back from death to life.
So, to my COGOP Riverside and friends and family come and enjoy with us this beautiful ceremony Sunday the 17 of November morning services, fulfilling God’s commanded!
